POC
The core of the GRID-TV Platform constitutes a high sophisticated
and interconnected POC architecture
(POC = play out center). For a country wide operation GRID-TV
offers NPOC (National Play Out Center), controlling servers
spread “cross network” over an entire country.
A further step can be the RPOC (Regional POC) designed to
operate cross border. The RPOC is beneficial in areas where
language and cultures of countries in that area are the
same or do not differ significantly at least. Such POC provides
the entire hardware and software environment including technology
licenses to operate an Internet-TV network. All POCs are
connected to the central iPOC for purposes of cross border
content exchange, maintenance, and backup service.
Each POC consists of three main components: TV-Edit,
FLBnn and TV-Serve.
An ubiquitous backup service and support complete the platform
offer.
An NPOC or RPOC is either licensed for operation to a local
partner (operator) or operated in a joint venture.
The GRID-TV POC is capable to provide content to the end
user in different ways covering all Internet-TV aspects:
Operation of 24/7 Internet-TV channels or multi channel
stations
On-demand Streaming
Download
Interactive channels
Point-of-Sales service (POS)
Content providers and Internet-TV broadcasters can choose
between operation of:
Single Channels
Multi channel stations with up to 6 channels
Multi station portal with up to 130 channels
GRID-TV platform has been developed with standard tools
and supports standard formats. An operator can address the
PC world as well as Internet-TV set top boxes.
To the operators benefit the system is scalable ton an
extremely high degree. An Internet-TV network can grow with
the demand.
